Cycling

Where I've been and what I ride.

Selected Rides

1st Century Ride

Group Ride
First century ride in the books. Something about riding in a large group that makes you push harder.

35th Birthday Ride

Self supported
Wanted to test myself and see if I could accomplish a self supported century. While it was achievable, I would definitely check the wind reports to make sure that I was riding in a tailwind instead.

Fenner Century Race

Race
Group ride quickly turned into a race. My heart-rate monitor was acting up so it was difficult to figure out what zone I was in, even though it felt like threshold 95% of the time. Got dropped 70 miles in and limped to the finish line.

Current setup

Bike

Trek Domane SL 5
My first full carbon bike. Great for both short sprints and longer rides. Want to throw a pair of gravel tires on it and see how it fares.

Pedals

LOOK Keo Classic 3 (Red)
Classic function that doesn't break the bank.

Computer

Garmin Edge® 130 Plus
Everything I need and nothing I don't. Can't say that i'm interested in touch screen functionality when I'm riding. Seems like it would be too much of a pain.

Heart Rate Monitor

Garmin Instinct® Solar
Initially got this for running, but being able to broadcast my heart-rate to my 105 is massive.

On top of that, a 30 day battery life and the overall body battery score is what pushed me to leave the apple ecosystem and stick with Garmin for the foreseeable future.
